BARTENDER TRAINING FAQ

1.Q:   How much money do bartenders earn?

A:   Depending on the status of the bar. Also there are different ways to earn your income bartending.

  a) Salary is from $10 to $12 per hour (could less or more depending whether it’s check or cash).

  b) Tips: $1-2 per drink whether it’s a cocktail or just coca-cola. Every client plans in advance how much money will be spent on tips. The increase in tips depends on you (in our school you will learn the psychological side of working with the clients). In general client drinks 5 or more drinks. Take 50 clients, 5 drinks each = 250 drinks, $2 = $500 just tips. The average income of the bar is $7000 per night; in disco bars and nightclubs - $1,500- 2000. P.S There are 2-3 bartenders working in disco bars, and in this case the tips will be divided among all of them.

  c) Commissions, for example, if the bar is closed for a private parties, the bartender doesn’t get payed for each drink, he just writes every drink he makes for the guests down. But even if the drinks for the guests are free, the bartender still getting payed both tips and commissions, which is 15% from the total income for the evening.

The other example is when you sold an expensive drink like cognac “Louis 13”, or champagne “Dom Perinion”; in this case the owner pays separately 15% from the sold item.

  d) Waitress fee. This term is not new but not well known. It exists in big places like casinos, disco bars, and nightclubs with a large number of tables.

Don’t forget, you are the person who makes a delicious drink not only for your bar, but also for the area where waitress works. Your tips will depend on how fast you make cocktails and ,of course, on the quality of the drinks. Compared to the bartenders, waitresses in USA work on tips only. So, at the end of the shift the waitress pays the bartender 15-20% from her tips.

2.Q: What guarantee do I have to get the job after finishing the school?

A:  We are not an employment agency that will guarantee you a job over the phone without knowing you. Remember one rule: not one owner will offer you a job without seeing you. You are the person responsible for the finances, and the owner will be getting the money from you.

No one will ever give you a job because you are someone’s friend or relative. In this case, people don’t take the job responsibly; they think they can do whatever they want without getting fired. Most places are private, and reputation of the place is extremely important.
If someone tells you that after finishing their bartender’s course you will be hired for a job without even going for an interview they are lying.
Our school 100% helps with job placement. You will always get the latest news about the new hot spot. We train our student on a very professional level;in addition to the license you get the professional resume and references. All you have to do is take your license, resume and references and go for an interview where the owner or the manager will wait for you.
P.S. How you should behave during the interview and what to wear you will learn in our school.

3.Q: What if I came for an interview and didn’t get hired, or got fired after a week or so of work. What should I do?

A:  Every student that took our course automatically becomes our union member. It means that the latest information about new job offers our students get first.

4.Q: Is it possible to take the course again after a couple of years to refresh my knowledge, and how much is it going to cost?

A:  If you were once our student, you could repeat a course for free.

5.Q: Do I really need a bartender’s license?

A:  If you have our certificate, it means you are a professional. Compare a professional worker with someone without any idea about bartending. Who do you think will get the job?
Also, if for example you decided to open your own bar and sell alcohol, then you will also need a license.
